After the residents of Mecca rejected his message, he fled to Medina in 615 a.d., where his tactics turned from persuasion to compulsion. By this time, Europe was in danger of becoming Muslim, not by persuasion, but by the sword. In Fez, now in Morocco, I believe, the Christians were killed in such numbers that the Muslim conquerors celebrated by dipping their hats in the blood running in the streets. That's the origin of the red "Fez" hats worn by Shriners and others who pattern their organizations after Islam. Martin Luther was concerned about the attacks by the Ottoman Turks on Vienna--which were ultimately rebuffed, or Europe most certainly would have become Muslim and the Reformation would have been crushed not by Rome, but by Mohammed. Rome was concerned with what it considered heresy in the Church. The Islamic armies were concerned with fighting to make the entire world Islamic, believing that if they died in the effort, they were assured instant Paradise. After being pushed back from both sides of Europe, and after the (gasp!) Crusades and other wars in response to Islamic advances, things quieted down for several centuries. But, now, the strict followers of Mohammed (not the majority, many of whom don't even know what the Koran says) believe the time has come to fulfill the dream of a world-wide "Caliphate" under which Sharia Law will rule everywhere. Iran's President is the best known spokesman for this view today. Prof. Moshe Sharon, who teaches Islamic History at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, had this to say a few weeks ago in Israel regarding the failure of those in the West to understand that militant Islam IS Islam: "When the Islamic empire was established in 634 AD, within seven years ­ 640 AD ­ the core of the empire was created. The rules that were taken from the Koran and from the tradition that was ascribed to the prophet Mohammed, were translated into a real legal system. Jews and Christians could live under Islam provided they paid poll tax and accepted Islamic superiority. Of course, they had to be humiliated. And Jews and Christians living under Islam are humiliated to this very day." He continues: "Mohammed explains that the Jews and Christians forged their books. Had they not been changed and forged, they would have been identical to the Koran. But because Christians and Jews do have some truth, Islam concedes that they cannot be completely destroyed by war [for now]. "Nevertheless, the laws are very clear ­ Jews and Christians have no rights whatsoever to independent existence. They can live under Islamic rule provided they keep to the rules that Islam promulgates for them. "What happens if Jews and Christians don't want to live under the rules of Islam? Then Islam has to fight them and this fighting is called Jihad. Jihad means war against those people who don't want to accept the Islamic superior rule. That's jihad. They may be Jews; they may be Christians; they may be Polytheists. But since we don't have too many Polytheists left, at least not in the Middle East ­ their war is against the Jews and Christians." And also this: "The Koran sees the world as divided into two ­ one part which has come under Islamic rule and one part which is supposed to come under Islamic rule in the future. There is a division of the world which is very clear. Every single person who starts studying Islam knows it. The world is described as Dar al-Islam (the house of Islam) ­ that's the place where Islam rules ­ and the other part which is called Dar al-Harb ­ the house of war. Not the "house of non-Muslims," but the "house of war." It is this house of war which as to be, at the end of time, conquered. The world will continue to be in the house of war until it comes under Islamic rule. "This is the norm. Why? Because Allah says it's so in the Koran. God has sent Mohammed with the true religion in order that the truth will overcome all other religions." This sounds strange, because we speak of militant Muslims as if they were just another political group taking up arms to gain power. As Prof. Moshe Sharon explains: "There Is No Fundamental Islam "Fundamentalism" is a word that came from the heart of the Christian religion. It means faith that goes by the word of the Bible. Fundamental Christianity, or going with the Bible, does not mean going around and killing people. There is no fundamental Islam. There is only Islam full stop. The question is how the Koran is interpreted. "All of a sudden we see that the greatest interpreters of Islam are politicians in the western world. They know better than all the speakers in the mosques, all those who deliver terrible sermons against anything that is either Christian or Jewish. These western politicians know that there is good Islam and bad Islam. They know even how to differentiate between the two, except that none of them know how to read a word of Arabic. "You see, so much is covered by politically correct language that, in fact, the truth has been lost. For example, when we speak about Islam in the West, we try to use our own language and terminology. We speak about Islam in terms of democracy and fundamentalism, in terms of parliamentarism and all kinds of terms, which we take from our own dictionary. One of my professors and one of the greatest orientalists in the world says that doing this is like a cricket reporter describing a cricket game in baseball terms. We cannot use for one culture or civilization the language of another. For Islam, you've got to use the language of Islam" And the language of Islam is the language of submission. "Islam" MEANS "Submission". You don't convert to Islam, you "Submit" to it. If not, you grovel as worthless residents dependent on Islamic rulers, or you die. Another fact is that once Muslims conquer a territory, in their view, it can never become "non-muslim" again. Thus, once again to quote Prof. David Sharon: "Islamic territory was taken away from Islam by Jews. You know by now that this can never be accepted, not even one meter. So everyone who thinks Tel Aviv is safe is making a grave mistake. Territory which at one time was dominated by Islamic rule, now has become non-Muslim. Non-Muslims are independent of Islamic rule and Jews have created their own independent state. It is anathema. Worse, Israel, a non-Muslim state, is ruling over Muslims. It is unthinkable that non-Muslims should rule over Muslims." Sharon then waved away the peace treaties and other documents Israel had signed with Arab leaders as "pieces of paper, parts of tactics and strategies… with no meaning." Muslims see Israel's establishment as a "reversal of history" and are therefore unable to accept peaceful relations with it. He concluded: "There is no possibility of peace between Israel and the Palestinians whatsoever – for ever." Knowing all this, today's headlines make perfect sense. In a country where Islam has taken control, instituting Sharia, then anything considered to be "blaspheming" the Koran, or Mohammed, becomes a Capitol Crime. A Christian drinks from a cup chained to a well, and he is nearly killed by Muslims saying he "desecrated" their cup. A Muslim who converts to Christianity--anywhere Sharia is in control--is fair game to be killed. If a Muslim mob kills him, it matters not, because he deserved death. A Christian on trial in Pakistan for unproven charges that he desecrated the Koran is actually acquitted by a court, but it matters not. He is killed by a mob as he leaves the courthouse. The recent headlines about three Christians being executed in Indonesia are another example. They were charged with fomenting three years of violence which was almost exclusively aimed at Christians. Thousands were killed, churches and homes were burned--often with the use of fuel from government trucks. After all this, the ONLY arrests were of three Christian men. In fact, the government declared an amnesty for any Muslims who might have taken part in the violence. Today's news is just the beginning, if current trends continue. Western Europe is being overrun by Muslims--admittedly not by the sword, but by immigration and by population growth through large families (often with several wives bearing children to the same husband). In areas of France and Holland, where Muslim populations are now in the majority, public servants like firefighters and medical rescue do not enter because of danger to their safety. In a suburb of Detroit, the Muslim majority has taken over the city council, and now sirens go off five times a day to call the faithful to prayer. Make no mistake. Yes, Muslims are "peaceful" when in the minority. When challenged, they make promises and concessions. But to them (as even Mohammed instructed), these are only to give time to regroup, gain strength, and then push forward again. But why not. Promises need not be truthful. The Hadith states: ""Mohammed bin Maslama got up saying, "O Allah's Apostle! Would you like that I kill him [Ka'b bin Al-Ashraf]?" The Prophet said, "Yes," Mohammed bin Maslama said, "Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Kab). "The Prophet said, "You may say it," (Hadith Vol. 5, Book 59, #369)." So, when Muslims claim to be people of peace, how can we believe them? We can believe them only when we understand their definitions! For us, "Peace" means absence of conflict. In Islam, "Peace" means total submission by all to Islam. Using that definition, then Islam is indead a "religion of peace'.
